We attended a large family event, where everyone knows Sherri and almost no one knows me. My daughter was with me as my “plus one” and we were just hanging waiting for things to get started. One of Sherri’s family came up to me and asked if I was Trish. Uh.. yes. I must have looked at her like “why are you asking?” because I had no idea who she was.
Then she says, I LOVED YOUR BOOK! Kiddo and I looked at each other – stunned. The only other time I’d had people ask about a book not at a book signing or similar event was after I appeared on a local morning TV show. I was completely shocked and flattered. We chatted for a while and I have to say, it was really cool. I forget all the time that I’ve laid myself wide open in the pages, and that readers will “know” me more than I anticipate.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a great experience. It happened a few more times and I have to say, it was incredible. We wrote Found to share our lifetime of experience and I’m so happy that people had questions, concerns, and were happy to come talk about how the book affected them.
While I’m positive I won’t ever be hounded by paparazzi (LOL) or chased after by fans (HUGE LOL) it is nice to know that all the effort to get the words on paper at least made a little bit of difference. What more could I possibly ask?
